Regular Season Round 16: Ilysiakos - Aris 62-64

A very close game took place in Athens between Aris and Ilysiakos. Seventh ranked Aris (7-9) got a very close victory on the road over 12th ranked Ilysiakos (5-11). Aris managed to escape with a 2-point win 64-62 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Ilysiakos was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 19-14 charge of Aris, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international forward Michalis Pelekanos (198-81, agency: FCM) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Bosnian guard Muhamed Pasalic (192-87) who added 14 points during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) responded with 29 points and 7 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!) and his fellow American import forward Travis Garrison (203-84, college: Maryland) scored 9 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Aris maintains seventh position with 7-9 record. Loser Ilysiakos dropped to the tenth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Peristeri GS and KAOD. Aris will meet at home bottom-ranked Panelefsiniakos (#14) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ilysiakos will play against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno and hope to secure a win.
