Regular Season Round 17: Dunkerque - Roche 77-71

Date: February 9, 2013
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when tenth ranked Dunkerque (6-10) beat at home 9th ranked Roche (7-8) 77-71 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 18 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Dunkerque made 32-of-39 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game, while Roche only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Strangely Roche outrebounded Dunkerque 44-26 including a 27-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Roche was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was Latvian power forward Dace Brumermane (187-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Melissa Micaletto (165-90) chipped in 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Dunkerque players scored in double figures. Guard Johana Tayeau (173-89) produced 17 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and center Maricme Badiane (191-94) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Roche's coach Emmanuel Body rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Dunkerque maintains tenth place with 6-10 record. Loser Roche keeps the ninth position with eight games lost. Dunkerque will face higher ranked Reims (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
