There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Gunma (7-25) beat at home higher ranked Akita Happinets (17-13) 72-66 on Sunday. They outrebounded Akita Happinets 48-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Quite impressive performance for swingman Shingo Okada (186-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 15 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists. American forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) contributed with 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Keller is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) replied with 19 points and 6 assists and American power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St., agency: Top Notch Sports) added 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Akita Happinets' coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Newly promoted Gunma maintains tenth position with 7-25 record. Loser Akita Happinets keep the fifth place with 13 games lost. Gunma will face Saitama Broncos (#11) on the road in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Sendai 89ers (#9).
