Everything went according to plan when fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (21-11) edged on the road 9th ranked Sendai 89ers (11-19) 60-57 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyama Grouses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Quite impressive performance for American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: SDJ Sports) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 9 rebounds. Masashi Joho (183-82) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) replied with 20 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) added 2 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers' coach Robert Pierce let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toyama Grouses have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Shimane SM. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the ninth position with 19 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Chiba Jets (#6) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against Akita Happinets.
