Regular Season Round 19: Union Hainaut - Arras 72-64

Bottom-ranked Union Hainaut managed to get a fifth victory, breaking the series of two consecutive loses. This time they won against thirteenth-ranked Arras in Saint-Amand 72-64. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Arras. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 13-10. But Arras won second period 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Union Hainaut brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Nigerian-American Ify Ibekwe (187-89, college: Arizona, agency: LBM Management) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 rebounds. American swingman Amanda Jackson (178-85, college: Miami, OH) contributed with 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Four Union Hainaut players scored in double figures. Power forward Aurelie Carmona (185-87) answered with 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and American point guard Dawn Evans (170-89, college: JMU, agency: LBM Management) added 18 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Arras. Union Hainaut (5-14) moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with defeated Arras. Union Hainaut will play against higher ranked Charleville-Mezieres (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Arras will have a break next round.
