Rather expected game when 6th ranked Niigata (11-16) lost to fourth ranked Toyota A. (20-7) in Nagoya 67-84 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota A.. Niigata managed to win fourth quarter 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Niigata 45-29 including a 35-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Toyota A. looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota A. made 9 blocks. International guard Emi Kudeken (165-84) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 5 assists. Center Mori Binge (180-88) contributed with 14 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Four Toyota A. players scored in double figures. Toyota A.'s coach Toshihiro Goto used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Seiko Kawakami (165-88) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Inoue Ai (172-90) added 17 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Niigata. Toyota A. have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Chanson V-M. Niigata at the other side keeps the sixth position with 16 games lost. Toyota A. is looking forward to face Aishin Wings (#8) in Anjo in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Niigata will play at home against the league's leader JX Sunflowers in Kashiwa and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
