Second Stage Round 6: Mitsubishi K. - Fujitsu RW 73-57

The most important game in the last round took place in Nagoya between second ranked Fujitsu RW (21-7) and fifth ranked Mitsubishi K. (19-9) on Monday night. Fujitsu RW was defeated by Mitsubishi K. on the road 73-57. The game was mostly controlled by Mitsubishi K.. Fujitsu RW managed to win third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. made 20-of-22 free shots (90.9 percent) during the game, while Fujitsu RW only scored four points from the stripe. Center Enjin Wantsu (189-87) scored 25 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Yasuko Hashimoto (163-82) chipped in 17 points and 5 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. Four Mitsubishi K. players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international forward Moeko Nagaoka (180-93) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and swingman Tika Yamamoto (175-91) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Fujitsu RW's coach Yabuuchi Natsumi rotated eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Mitsubishi K. maintains fifth position with 19-9 record. Fujitsu RW at the other side keeps the second place with seven games lost. They share the position with Toyota A.. Mitsubishi K. are looking forward to face Niigata (#7) in Tokyo in the next round. Fujitsu RW will play on the road against the league's leader JX Sunflowers (#1) in Kashiwa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
