Regular Season Round 28: Prievidza - Svit 76-79

Bottom-ranked Svit managed to get the second consecutive victory. This time they edged fifth-ranked Prievidza 79-76. It looked good early as Prievidza took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Svit had a 26-21 second period charge getting the lead and Prievidza was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-79. Svit shot 66.7 percent from the field. Svit had a 23-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. Worth to mention a great performance of center Tyronne McNeal (211-87, college: Miami Dade CC) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Sean Smith (201-85, college: N.Illinois) who added 22 points during the contest. McNeal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Svit players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) responded with 27 points and 5 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and point guard Dijuan Harris (175-86, college: Charlotte) scored 12 points and 6 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Svit (7-19) moved-up to eighth place. Defending champion Prievidza dropped to the sixth position with 13 games lost. Svit will play against higher ranked Inter Bratislava (#5) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Prievidza will play against Nova Ves and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
