Regular Season Round 17: AZS AWF K-ce - WKK Wroclaw 82-100

Top ranked AZS AWF K-ce (13-3) recorded its third loss in Katowice on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked WKK Wroclaw (11-4) 100-82. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of AZS AWF K-ce. WKK Wroclaw dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to AZS AWF K-ce's 30. 27 personal fouls committed by AZS AWF K-ce helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Jan Grzelinski (178-94) who scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The former international power forward Miroslaw Lopatka (213-77, agency: Promotex) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five WKK Wroclaw players scored in double figures. WKK Wroclaw's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Forward Mariusz Piotrkowski (197-84) produced 30 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and guard Marceli Dziemba (190-92) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. WKK Wroclaw maintains third place in Group B with 11-4 record having just one points less than leader Wilki Morskie. AZS AWF K-ce at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. WKK Wroclaw are looking forward to face league's second-placed Pogon Prudnik at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. AZS AWF K-ce will have a break next round.
