Regular Season Round 23: Joinville - Mogi das Cruzes 85-90

There was a minor upset when 13th ranked Joinville (8-13) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Mogi (7-14) 90-85 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-85. It was a great shooting night for Mogi especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 64.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international center Babby Araujo (211-80, college: BYU) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Gustavinho Lima (178-85) chipped in 11 points and 6 assists. Four Mogi players scored in double figures. Guard Victor De Souza (182-92) produced 32 points (was perfect 12-for-12 from the free throw line !!!) and the former international power forward Ricardo Probst (200-76) added 19 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Mogi moved-up to fourteenth place. Joinville lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Mogi will meet higher ranked Winner/Limeira (#12) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Joinville will play against Sao Jose/Vinac and hope to secure a win.
