Regular Season Round 32: Concordia - UQAM 81-58

Date: February 14, 2013
Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Montreal: Concordia (#2) and UQAM (#3). Concordia (10-4) smashed visiting UQAM (8-6) by 23 points 81-58. The game without a history. Concordia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Concordia forced 21 UQAM turnovers and outrebounded them 37-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Marilyse Roy-Viau who had that evening a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and forward Tina Mpondani (183) supported her with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Four Concordia players scored in double figures. Even 20 points by center Emie Simard (183) did not help to save the game for UQAM. Center Camille Michaud (183) added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Concordia maintains second position with 10-4 record having 5 victories less than leader Calgary. Loser UQAM keeps the third place with six games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
