Regular Season Round 33: Guangdong ST - Shandong FB 105-103

Second-ranked Shandong Bulls (23-8) gave a tough game to first ranked Guandong Tigers (27-4) in Dongguan on Friday. Guandong Tigers managed to secure only two-point victory 105-103. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the 15-game winning streak of Shandong Bulls. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Shandong Bulls' 42. They outrebounded Shandong Bulls 51-39 including 18 on the offensive glass. 35 personal fouls committed by Shandong Bulls helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Nigerian-American power forward Ike Diogu (204-83, college: Arizona St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 20 rebounds for the winners and international Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in 29 points and 12 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American point guard Pooh Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) with 27 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and forward Ding Yanyuhang (200-93) scored 18 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers maintains first place with 27-4 record. Shandong Bulls at the other side keep the second position with eight games lost. Guandong Tigers are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Qingdao Eagles (#17) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Shandong Bulls will play against Fujian (#13) in Jinjiang and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
