Regular Season Round 33: Toronto Univ. - Ryerson 63-78

Date: February 15, 2013
Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Toronto: Ryerson (#5) and Toronto (#3). Toronto was defeated at home 63-78 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Toronto was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 24-8 charge of Ryerson, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 25 Toronto turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Kelsey Wright (170) who scored 29 points. Guard Kenesha Pingue-Giles (168) chipped in 13 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Rachael Sider (178) who recorded 20 points and 7 rebounds and guard Jill Stratton (178) added 9 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Toronto's coach let to play eleven players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ryerson (7-12) moved-up to fourth place. Loser Toronto keeps the third position with eight games lost. Ryerson will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Toronto's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Toronto to the arena Ryerson.
