Regular Season Round 35: Victoria - UBC 74-71

Date: February 16, 2013
The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of Thunderbirds (18-4) in Victoria, BC on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Vikies (16-6) 74-71. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 15-6 record before this meeting. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Thunderbirds won fourth quarter 30-24. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guard Brandon Dunlop (185-88) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Terrell Evans contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Doug Plumb (193, college: Minnesota St.) answered with 24 points and guard O'Brian Wallace (185, college: Miles CC) added 11 points in the effort for Thunderbirds. Four Thunderbirds players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Vikies keep a position of league leader, which they share with Saskatchewan. Thunderbirds at the other side still keep top place with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
