No shocking result in a game in Kanagawa where fourth ranked Toshiba Thunders (20-12) defeated 6th ranked Tochigi Brex (9-23) 75-69 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tochigi Brex won third quarter 20-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toshiba Thunders made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Toshiba Thunders outrebounded Tochigi Brex 42-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) fired a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Senegalese swingman Mamadou Diouf (197-77, college: Delaware) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Nigerian-British center Olumide Oyedeji (210-81) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Daiji Yamada (200-81) added 12 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Panasonic T. Tochigi Brex lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with 23 games lost. Toshiba Thunders will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tochigi Brex will play on the road against Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
