LBF top team - Recife (5-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Santo Andre (2-3) 65-58. It looked good early as Santo Andre took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Recife had a 16-7 second period charge getting the lead and Santo Andre was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-65. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Santo Andre to just 7 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Santo Andre 39-25 including a 28-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by international center Erika De Souza (197-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and international Adriana Pinto (170-78) supported her with 17 points. Four Recife players scored in double figures. Even 19 points and 5 rebounds by the former international forward Micaela Martins (180-79, agency: Josep and Nicolas) did not help to save the game for Santo Andre. Guard Fernanda Santana (180-84) added 16 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Recife have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 5-0 record. Santo Andre at the other side keeps the fifth place with three games lost. Recife will play against Guarulhos (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Santo Andre will play against Sao Jose and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
