Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Panelefsiniakos (3-14) lost to seventh ranked Aris (8-9) in Thessaloniki 55-68 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Aris. Panelefsiniakos managed to win fourth quarter 15-6. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aris forced 22 Panelefsiniakos turnovers. Power forward Giorgos Tsiaras (207-82) nailed 13 points for the winning side and forward Antonis Asimakopoulos (203-76) accounted for 10 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Spyros Magounis (200-85, agency: FCM) came up with 13 points and 8 rebounds and American power forward Callistus Eziukwu (208-85, college: Grand Valley St.) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Panelefsiniakos in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aris moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Apollon Patras. Panelefsiniakos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Aris will meet higher ranked Panionios (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Panelefsiniakos will play against AGOR (#5) in Rethymno and hope to secure a win.
