Regular Season Round 35: TWU - UFV 74-61

Date: February 16, 2013
We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 3rd placed Cascades (12-10) lost to fourth ranked Spartans (12-10) in Langley, BC 61-74 on Saturday. Cascades were trailing by 9 points at halftime but managed to get 5-point lead after three quarters before a 23-5 charge of Spartans, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cascades to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Mark Perrin orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points and 7 rebounds. Denny McDonald contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Spartans' coach Scott Allen used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. James York answered with 16 points and 5 rebounds and guard Samuel Freeman (191) added 17 points in the effort for Cascades. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Spartans moved-up to third place, which they share with Lethbridge and UFV. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
