Regular Season Round 35: Miyazaki SS - Takamatsu FA 83-81

A very interesting game took place in Miyazaki. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Takamatsu FA (11-21) to tenth ranked Miyazaki Shining Suns (5-28) 83-81 on Saturday evening. It looked good early as Takamatsu FA took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Miyazaki Shining Suns had a 27-20 second period charge getting the lead and Takamatsu FA was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-83. Miyazaki Shining Suns made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Miyazaki Shining Suns outrebounded Takamatsu FA 39-27 including 25 on the defensive glass. American guard Larriques Cunningham (198-88, college: Lee) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Kyohei Ito (175-88) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) answered with 24 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and the other American import power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) added 20 points and 6 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) in the effort for Takamatsu FA. Four Miyazaki Shining Suns and five Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Miyazaki Shining Suns maintains tenth place with 5-28 record. Takamatsu FA lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with 21 games lost. Miyazaki Shining Suns' next round opponent will be again higher ranked Takamatsu FA (#7) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
