Regular Season Round 34: Acadia - Cape Breton 65-57

There was no surprise in Wolfville where 7th ranked Cape Breton (4-14) was defeated by second ranked Acadia (14-4) 65-57 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 65-57. Acadia made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game, while Cape Breton only scored five points from the stripe. Guard Kristy Moore (170) fired 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Abbey Duinker (188-91) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Acadia players scored in double figures. Guard Tanira McClurkin (163) produced 14 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Hope Edwards (183) added 17 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) respectively for lost side. Cape Breton's coach Fabian McKenzie let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Acadia have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 14-4 record having nine points less than leader McGill. Cape Breton lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 14 games lost. Acadia will face again Cape Breton (#7) in Sydney in the next round where they are favorite. Cape Breton will play at home against UNB in Fredericton and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
