Very expected game in Langley where 6th ranked Trinity Western (7-15) was defeated by second ranked UFV (18-4) 84-76 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 25-22. But Trinity Western won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when UFV won last quarter 23-16. UFV outrebounded Trinity Western 47-29 including a 33-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Sarah Wierks (188) fired a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Guard Aieisha Luyken (173) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four UFV players scored in double figures. UFV's coach Al Tuchscherer used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Holly Strom (180) produced 24 points and 7 rebounds and forward Emily Knauff (180-87) added 20 points respectively for lost side. UFV have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Loser Trinity Western keeps the sixth place with 15 games lost.
