Regular Season Round 17: Aris - PAOK 57-54

The most exciting game of round 17 in the A1 took place in Thessaloniki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed PAOK (11-6) to seventh ranked Aris (9-8) 57-54 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of PAOK. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Aris forced 19 PAOK turnovers. Strangely PAOK outrebounded Aris 52-34 including a 22-11 advantage in offensive rebounds. Guard Roula Mouli (177-85) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Niki Hatzakou (175-82) contributed with 13 points for the winners. American center Caila Desroches (193, college: Chicago St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 18 rebounds and guard Sofia Vasiliadou (175-90) added 17 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for PAOK. Aris moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Ikaros Kalitheas and Kronos AD. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with six games lost. Aris is looking forward to face bottom-ranked GAC Eunikos (#12) in Liosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK will play at home against Asteras (#8) in Athens and is hoping to win this game.
