Regular Season Round 36: Akita NH - Sendai 89ers 64-66

A very close game took place in Akita between Sendai 89ers and Akita Happinets. Eighth ranked Sendai 89ers (13-19) got a very close victory on the road over 6th ranked Akita Happinets (17-15). Sendai 89ers managed to escape with a 2-point win 66-64 on Sunday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 15-10. But Akita Happinets won second period 18-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sendai 89ers dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Akita Happinets' 28. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 7 rebounds and forward Takuya Komoda (190-87) who added 21 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St., agency: Top Notch Sports) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Sendai 89ers maintains eighth position with 13-19 record. Akita Happinets lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 15 games lost. Sendai 89ers will meet at home Saitama Broncos (#11) in the next round. Akita Happinets will play against Chiba Jets (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
