Top ranked Okinawa GK (24-8) recorded its eighth loss on the court of second ranked Shimane Magic on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by Shimane Magic 70-54. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The game was mostly controlled by Shimane Magic. Okinawa GK managed to win fourth quarter 20-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great shooting night for Shimane Magic especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds. Center Jeral Davis (216-84) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. Davis is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Shimane Magic players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was swingman Terrance Woodbury (201-87, college: Georgia) who recorded 18 points and center Jeff Newton (205-81, college: Indiana) added 10 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shimane Magic have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 23-11 record having just two points less than leader Okinawa GK, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls. Okinawa GK at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. They share the position with Yokohama BC. Shimane Magic is looking forward to face Oita Heat Devils (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Okinawa GK will play against Hamamatsu Phoenix (#3) in Mikawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
