Second-ranked Hapoel Eilat (10-7) made lots of trouble for first ranked Maccabi T-A (16-1) in Tel-Aviv on Sunday. Maccabi T-A managed to secure only two-point victory 72-70. However their fans expected easier game. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners and American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) chipped in 16 points. Guard Oriya Mizrahi (188-88) responded with 18 points and FYR Macedonian-American point guard Darius Washington (188-85, college: Memphis) scored 18 points. Maccabi T-A have an impressive series of fourteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 16-1 record. Newly promoted Hapoel Eilat keeps the second position with seven games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M and Maccabi Haifa. Maccabi T-A will meet at home Hapoel Holon (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hapoel Eilat will play against Hapoel Tel-Aviv (#9) and hope to secure a win.
