Toyota Alvark smashed Mitsubishi Dolphins 80-48 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Mitsubishi Dolphins to just 7 points in first quarter. Toyota Alvark dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi Dolphins' 28. They outrebounded Mitsubishi Dolphins 48-28 including a 33-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Michael Takahashi (198-74, college: CS Northridge) who added 11 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international power forward Takuya Sato (198-83) responded with 16 points and American forward Ron Hale (203-77, college: Florida St.) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains second position with 25-7 record behind leader Aishin SH. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 24 games lost. Toyota Alvark will meet Panasonic Trians (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Hitachi Sunrockers (#5) in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
