Regular Season Round 24: Pinheiros/Sky - Suzano 91-65
Date: February 17, 2013
Everything went according to plan in Sao Paolo where sixth ranked Pinheiros (14-6) outleveled bottom-ranked Suzano (3-19) 91-65 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Pinheiros. Suzano was better in third quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Pinheiros made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was American Joe Smith (192-77, college: Al.-Huntsville) who scored 38 points (!!!) and 6 assists. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Paulo Nery (188-81) who recorded 19 points and forward Rafael Da Silva (198-91) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Pinheiros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain sixth position with 14-6 record. Suzano lost seventh consecutive game. They stay dead last with 19 lost games. Pinheiros will face Vila Velha (#15) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Suzano will play against Mogi in Mogi das Cruzes.
