A very close game took place in Taiyuan between Shanxi Zhongyu and Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank. Ninth ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (16-16) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (16-16). Shanxi Zhongyu managed to escape with a 2-point win 119-117 in the fight for the eighth place. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 2 points. Shanxi Zhongyu dominated down low during the game scoring 88 of its points in the paint compared to Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank's 62 and made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Shanxi Zhongyu looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jermaine Taylor (193-86, college: Cent.Florida) chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Five Shanxi Zhongyu players scored in double figures. At the losing side power forward Eddy Curry (211-82) responded with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and guard Quincy Douby (191-84, college: Rutgers) scored 43 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Shanxi Zhongyu moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Zhejiang CB and Bayi R.
