Very predictable result when second ranked Banco di Sard. (15-4) rolled over 7th ranked Umana Venezia (10-9) in Sassari 108-84 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Banco di Sard.. Umana Venezia was better in second period 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Banco di Sard. forced 19 Umana Venezia turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 54.8 percentage. Banco di Sard. looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Umana Venezia's players. Quite impressive performance for American point guard Travis Diener (184-82, college: Marquette) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points and 14 assists. His fellow American import guard Drake Diener (196-81, college: De Paul, agency: Priority Sports) contributed with 27 points for the winners. French forward Yakhouba Diawara (201-82, college: Pepperdine) answered with 20 points and 5 rebounds and American-Bulgarian point guard Kee Kee Clark (180-84, college: St.Peter's) added 16 points in the effort for Umana Venezia. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Banco di Sard. maintains second place with 15-4 record behind leader Cimberio VA. Loser Umana Venezia keeps the seventh position with nine games lost. Banco di Sard. will face VL Pesaro (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Umana Venezia will play against Enel Brindisi (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
