Regular Season Round 25: Matera - Mirandola 91-87
Date: February 17, 2013
Very predictable result when second ranked Matera (15-8) won against at home 12th ranked Mirandola (10-13) 91-87 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Strangely Mirandola outrebounded Matera 41-26 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Mirandola was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for naturalized Argentinian guard Carlos Sebastian Vico (190-86, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording 40 points (!!!) and 4 assists. Power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91, agency: Two Points) contributed with 20 points for the winners. Forward Luca Pignatti (195-86) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and guard Michele Venturelli (188-82) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Mirandola. Five Mirandola players scored in double figures. Mirandola's coach Antonio Tinti rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Matera maintains second place with 15-8 record having five points less than leader Torino. Newly promoted Mirandola dropped to the thirteenth position with 13 games lost. Matera will face Recanati (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Mirandola will play against the league's leader Torino.
