There was no surprise in Hod Hasharon where 11th ranked Ironi Ashkelon (5-12) was defeated by seventh ranked Bnei Hasharon (8-9) 103-95 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 53-40 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Bnei Hasharon looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 18 rebounds and 8 assists. American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 25 points. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Maccabi Rishon. Ironi Ashkelon lost their sixth game in a row. They dropped to the bottom position with 12 games lost. Bnei Hasharon will face Maccabi Rishon (#6) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Ironi Ashkelon will play at home against the league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem (#2).
