Regular Season Round 21: FIATC Joventut - Gescrap BB 70-81

Rather predictable result when sixth ranked Gescrap BB (13-8) won against 9th ranked FIATC Joventut (10-11) in Badalona 81-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Gescrap BB. FIATC Joventut was better in second period 24-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Gescrap BB shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. It was a good game for the former international forward Alex Mumbru (202-79) who led his team to a victory with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Greek guard Nikolaos Zisis (197-83) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. point guard Albert Oliver (187-78) answered with 17 points and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!) and American forward Tony Gaffney (204-84, college: Massachusetts) added 7 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for FIATC Joventut. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Gescrap BB moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser FIATC Joventut keeps the ninth position with 11 games lost. Gescrap BB will face bottom-ranked Lagun Aro GBC (#18) in San Sebastian in the next round which should be an easy win for them. FIATC Joventut will play on the road against Assignia Manresa (#17).
