An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Rio de Janeiro. First ranked Flamengo faced 3rd ranked Uberlandia. Host Flamengo (22-1) defeated guests from Uberlandia (16-7) 79-66. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Uberlandia. It looked good early as Uberlandia took an 5-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Flamengo had a 21-4 second period charge getting the lead and Uberlandia was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-79. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Uberlandia to just 4 points in second quarter. Flamengo brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a good game for the former international Marquinhos Vieira (207-84) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Olivinha Rodriguez (202-83) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Flamengo players scored in double figures. American forward Robert Day (197-82, college: W.Oregon) replied with 25 points and the former international forward Luis Felipe Gruber (205-85) added 18 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Uberlandia. Flamengo maintains first position with 22-1 record. Uberlandia at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Flamengo will play against league's second-placed Brasilia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
