Regular Season Round 25: Leiden - Groningen 66-68

The most exciting game of round 25 in the Eredivisie took place in Leiden. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of their biggest opponent Leiden (21-6) to third ranked Groningen (18-9) 68-66 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Leiden. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Leiden won third quarter 18-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Groningen won last quarter 21-20. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Michael Kingma (208-79, agency: R.H.Consultancy) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) contributed with 11 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds and international guard Arvin Slagter (191-85, agency: Court Side) added 14 points and 4 assists in the effort for Leiden. Four Leiden players scored in double figures. Groningen maintains third place with 18-9 record having three points less than leader Den Bosch. Leiden at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Groningen are looking forward to face Leeuwarden (#4) at home in the next round. Leiden will play against Den Helder K. and is hoping to win this game.
