Regular Season Round 25: S.Jose/Unimed - Palmeiras 77-65

Date: February 21, 2013
No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (14-11) beat at home 16th ranked Palmeiras (5-18) 77-65 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Sao Jose/Vinac. Palmeiras was better in third quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. It was a very good performance for the former international power forward Murilo Becker (210-83) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. International swingman Dede Stefanelli (196-84) contributed with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Antwaine Wiggins (200-88, college: Charleston, agency: Two Points) answered with 20 points and 9 rebounds and the former international center Fernando Coloneze (207-78) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Palmeiras. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Sao Jose/Vinac. They maintain seventh place with 14-11 record. Loser Palmeiras keeps the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac will face bottom-ranked Suzano (#18) in Sao Paulo in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Palmeiras will play on the road against Mogi in Mogi das Cruzes.
