Regular Season Round 23: Monaco - Sorgues 82-68

The game between closely ranked teams ended with seventh ranked Monaco's (11-8) home victory over 8th ranked Sorgues (10-10) 82-68. It looked good early as Sorgues took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Monaco took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 14 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Sorgues' 24. Monaco players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Naturalized Tunisian power forward Mehdi Labeyrie-Hafsi (203-78) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian-Bosnian center Nemanja Calasan (205-85, college: Purdue) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Cedric Mansare (195-85) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds and point guard Arnaud Thinon (178-87) added 14 points in the effort for Sorgues. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Monaco maintains seventh place with 11-8 record. Sorgues at the other side dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. Monaco's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked CFBB (#16) in Paris and are hoping to win another game. Sorgues will play on the road against Vendee Challans (#14).
