There was a minor upset when 8th ranked Sendai 89ers (13-21) lost at home to eleventh ranked Saitama Broncos (7-27) 97-87 on Thursday. Saitama Broncos looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Americans were the main players on the court also this time. Quite impressive performance for swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St., agency: Court Side) who helped to win the game recording 30 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Power forward Wayne Oliver (201-80, college: W.Hills JC) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) answered with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds and guard Maurice Hargrow (193-83, college: Minnesota, agency: Top Notch Sports) added 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Sendai 89ers' coach Robert Pierce rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Saitama Broncos have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain eleventh place with 7-27 record. Loser Sendai 89ers keep the eighth position with 21 games lost. Saitama Broncos will have a break next round.
