The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Meridiano Alicante's (12-7) home victory over 5th ranked Leche Rio Breogan (10-9) 70-60 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Meridiano Alicante. Leche Rio Breogan was better in third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a very good performance for American forward Taylor Coppenrath (205-81, college: Vermont) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 rebounds. The former international center Jesus Fernandez (204-75) contributed with 10 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Meridiano Alicante's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Senegalese center Michel Diouf (208-89) answered with 16 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Anthony Winchester (193-83, college: W.Kentucky) added 12 points in the effort for Leche Rio Breogan. Four Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Meridiano Alicante moved-up to third place, which they share with Palencia. Loser Leche Rio Breogan keeps the fifth position with nine games lost. Meridiano Alicante will face Lleida Basquet (#7) at home in the next round. Leche Rio Breogan will play against Melilla Baloncesto.
