Ethias League top team - Base Oostende (13-5) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat seventh ranked Leuven Bears (5-12) 80-72. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-72. American power forward Brent Wright (203-78, college: Florida) notched a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import guard Matt Lojeski (198-85, college: Hawaii) supported him with 15 points and 4 assists. Base Oostende's coach Dario Gjergja used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 15 points and 8 rebounds by U.S. Virgin Islands-Puerto Rican forward Ivan Aska (200-90, college: Murray St.) did not help to save the game for Leuven Bears. Naturalized American forward Ian Hanavan (202-80, college: Evansville, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 6 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first position with 13-5 record. Leuven Bears lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 12 games lost. Base Oostende will meet Antwerp Giants (#5) on the road in the next round. Leuven Bears will play against VOO Verviers-Pepinster and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
