Regular Season Round 17: Panasonic T. - Toyota Alvark 66-80

An interesting game for Toyota Alvark (27-7) which played road game in Osaka against 4th placed Panasonic Trians (20-14). Second ranked Toyota Alvark managed to get a 14-point victory 80-66. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota Alvark. Panasonic Trians was better in third quarter 18-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. International power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) contributed with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 15 rebounds and forward Takanori Onishi (195-83) added 16 points in the effort for Panasonic Trians. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Toyota Alvark. Defending champion used an opportunity after Aishin SH lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Panasonic Trians keep the fourth place with 14 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Panasonic Trians will play on the road against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
