Seventh-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (9-25) were very close to win a game against fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (18-16) in Tokyo. Hitachi Sunrockers managed to secure only two-point victory 78-76. However their fans expected easier game. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international guard Fumio Nishimura (177-86) chipped in 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) responded with 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains fifth place with 18-16 record. Mitsubishi Dolphins lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the seventh position with 25 games lost. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against Tochigi Brex (#6) on the road in the next round. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Hokkaido L. in Saporro and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
