Regular Season Round 17: Real C.Vigo - Ensino 80-85

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Maquinaria Ensino (9-6) defeated on the road 8th ranked Real Celta Vigo (6-10) 85-80 on Saturday. Real Celta Vigo trailed by 14 points after 3 quarters before a 28-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 80-85 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Real Celta Vigo 31-16 including 23 on the defensive glass. Real Celta Vigo was plagued by 33 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Mireia Navarrete (184-80) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Forward Nerea Mendez (180-87) chipped in 20 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Guard Noelia Oliva (175-88) produced 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Cristina Loureiro (-94) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Maquinaria Ensino moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Aros Leon. Loser Real Celta Vigo dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Maquinaria Ensino will face ADBA (#10) in Aviles in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Real Celta Vigo will play on the road against Oviedo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
