Regular Season Round 22: Siena - T. La Spezia 42-66

Date: February 23, 2013
Bottom-ranked Consum.it Siena (0-21) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 21th consecutive match to second ranked T. La Spezia (17-3) 66-42. T. La Spezia dominated on the defensive end, holding Consum.it Siena to just 5 points in third quarter and to 12 points in second half. They outrebounded Consum.it Siena 48-27 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. T. La Spezia brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 9 rebounds. The former international forward Alessandra Tava (184-91) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Arianna Dragoni (174-94) replied with 7 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Caterina Bozzi (165-92) added 8 points in the effort for Consum.it Siena. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. T. La Spezia maintains second position in South with 17-3 record having six points less than leader Umana Reyer. Consum.it Siena at the other side still closes the standings with 21 games lost.
