Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Athens: Panathinaikos (#3) and Ilysiakos (#10). Ilysiakos was smashed at home by 25 points 62-87 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game without a history. Panathinaikos led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Ilysiakos' players. The former international forward Kostas Tsartsaris (209-79) notched 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Lithuanian swingman Jonas Maciulis (199-85) supported him with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Even 23 points by American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) did not help to save the game for Ilysiakos. His fellow American import forward Travis Garrison (203-84, college: Maryland) added 7 points and 7 rebounds. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Panathinaikos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Panionios. Ilysiakos lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos will meet at home KAOD (#13) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Ilysiakos will play against Panelefsiniakos in Eleusina and hope to secure a win.
