Regular Season Round 18: Maccabi Rishon - Bnei Hasharon 88-82

Date: February 24, 2013
Everything could happen in Rishon Le-Zion at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Maccabi Rishon and 7th ranked Bnei Hasharon had identical 8-9 record. This time Maccabi Rishon used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Hod Hasharon 88-82. The hosts were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Maccabi Rishon brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. American forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas) notched 23 points and 9 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) supported him with 20 points. Even a double-double of 18 points and 15 rebounds by American forward Derrick Caracter (206-88, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Bnei Hasharon. American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) added 24 points. Four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Rishon (9-9) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Netanya. Bnei Hasharon at the other side keeps the seventh position with ten games lost. Maccabi Rishon will play against league's second-placed Hapoel Jerusalem on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bnei Hasharon will play against Maccabi Haifa (#4) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
