Very expected game when 16th ranked Recanati (8-14) was defeated at home by second ranked Matera (16-8) 82-71. The game was mostly controlled by Matera. Recanati was better in fourth quarter 25-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Matera players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Recanati's players. The former international power forward Massimo Rezzano (203-82) notched 24 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Antonio Iannuzzi (207-91, agency: Two Points) supported him with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Matera players scored in double figures. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by forward Attilio Pierini (201-81) did not help to save the game for Recanati. The former international guard Gennaro Tessitore (193-82) added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the hosts. Matera maintains second position with 16-8 record having four points less than leader Torino. Recanati at the other side keeps the sixteenth place with 14 games lost. Matera will play against Chieti (#12) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Recanati will play against Mazzeo San Severo (#17) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
