Regular Season Round 38: Chiba Jets - Akita NH 77-79

Very significant was Akita Happinets' (#5) just 2-point road victory against 6th ranked Chiba Jets 79-77. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Chiba Jets won third quarter 21-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Akita Happinets won last quarter 19-19. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and forward Mike Anderson (201-86, college: VCU, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) supported him with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Anderson is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even a double-double of 35 points (!!!), 13 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Marquin Chandler (202-82, college: San Jose St.) did not help to save the game for Chiba Jets. Center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Cros.) added 18 points and 12 rebounds for the hosts. Akita Happinets maintains fifth position with 19-15 record. Chiba Jets lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 16 games lost. Akita Happinets will play against league's second-placed Shimane Magic at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Chiba Jets will play against Tokyo Cinq R. (#9) and hope to get back on the winning track.
