Regular Season Round 38: Sendai 89ers - Gunma 77-69

Date: February 25, 2013
Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Sendai 89ers (14-22) defeated at home 10th ranked Gunma (9-27) 77-69 on Monday. Sendai 89ers forced 19 Gunma turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The game was dominated by American players. Forward T.J. Cummings (205-81, college: UCLA, agency: Top Notch Sports) scored 35 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) chipped in 7 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. Forward Dominique Keller (203-88, college: Illinois) responded with 30 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Lewis Witcher (207-87, college: Virginia Tech) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Gunma's coach Ryan Blackwell tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Sendai 89ers maintains eighth position with 14-22 record.
