Regular Season Round 19: Hapoel Afula - Maccabi K/G 82-77
Date: February 26, 2013
Not a big story in a game when 14th ranked Maccabi K/G (3-16) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Hapoel Afula (13-6) 82-77. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 20-13 Maccabi K/G's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 82-77 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Forward Oz Blayzer (199-92) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Hapoel Afula players scored in double figures. American forward Lenny Daniel (203-87, college: CS Northridge) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import forward Damon Peterson (201-68, college: Oklahoma, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Maccabi K/G. Maccabi K/G's coach Roni Tzukerman rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Afula moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Elitzur Yavne. Maccabi K/G lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Hapoel Afula's next round opponent will be Ironi Ramat Gan (#6) on the road. Maccabi K/G will play against Maccabi Kiryat Bialik (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
