Regular Season Round 21: Tigers - Hawks 82-88

The game between third ranked Melbourne Tigers (10-13) and fifth ranked Wollongong Hawks (11-14) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Melbourne Tigers were defeated by Wollongong Hawks in a tough game in Melbourne 82-88. Wollongong Hawks made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) who scored 31 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Power forward Larry Davidson (206-83, college: Boise St.) chipped in 23 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was forward Lucas Walker (203-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) who recorded 18 points and 7 rebounds and the former international guard Chris Goulding (192-88) added 21 points respectively. Four Melbourne Tigers players scored in double figures. Wollongong Hawks moved-up to third place, which they share with Kings. Melbourne Tigers lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fifth position with 13 games lost. Wollongong Hawks is looking forward to face Townsville Crocodiles (#7) in Wulguru in the next round. Melbourne Tigers will play at home against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers in Auckland and are hoping to win this game.
